Fate Comes Along

When I came home today
I found you had finally gone away
For though you left me long ago
The spirit of you seemed to linger so

I feared that your ghost would stay
And live in the mist of your memory
Forever, but now I am finally free
And you know I came home today

Just when you feel that it's not real without a fight
Fate comes along and takes the wrong and makes it right

Funny, I never find
The world as clear as appears in my mind
Try as I might, it just never seems
To feel as right as it does in my dreams

Seems sometimes I try too hard
To stand on my own and live up to a part
That until this time I thought was mine to play
And you know I came home today

Until I was alone
I never knew I could stand on my own
No, I waited for somebody else to say why
To tell me to jump, and what way, and how high

But after I went away
Stopped listening to answers I knew weren't true
And I learned to let go, and I knew what to do
And you know I came home today

Now I can go it alone
And I can make my own way
And you know I came home today
